Seaweed cultivated on land, not gathered by chance.
BayBloom grows Ulva, Gracilaria, and Palmaria under controlled, land-based conditions in India — bringing consistent, quality-tested seaweed species to the industries that depend on them.
Most seaweed supply is still left to chance.
Most of the seaweed reaching Indian industry today is wild-harvested or imported — and that comes with real limits.
Land-based cultivation removes each of these, one at a time.
-
Season-dependent
Harvest windows are short and weather-dependent, so supply and quality shift through the year.
-
Hard to trace
Biomass gathered from open water carries no real record of where or how it grew.
-
Variable composition
Nutrient and safety profiles can shift from one wild harvest to the next.
Three species, grown for what each is good at.
Not every seaweed is useful for the same reason. We cultivate three species on land, each suited to different industries.
Ulva Sea lettuce
A fast-growing, thin-bladed seaweed that tolerates a wide range of water conditions — among the most cultivable species on land. High in protein, and rich in ulvan, a compound known to trigger natural plant defence responses.
Useful for: agricultural biostimulants, food & feed, biomaterials
Gracilaria
The source of most of the world's agar, and already grown along India's coastline. Separately valued in agriculture for the plant growth compounds it carries.
Useful for: agricultural biostimulants, food-grade agar, pharmaceutical & cosmetic use
Palmaria palmata Dulse
A cold-water species traditionally hand-harvested in the North Atlantic, now moving to land-based cultivation for more consistent quality. Naturally high in protein and minerals.
Useful for: premium food & snacks, nutraceuticals, cosmetics
Dried samples of any species are available on request. Get in touch →
